## Early life and education

Fang was born in [San Jose, California](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Jose,_California "San Jose, California"), one of four children in a [Taiwanese American](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwanese_American "Taiwanese American") family.
